Rehras Sewa Society (Regd.) – NGO/NPO

Introduction

Rehras Sewa Society is a non-profit organisation that manages the scarcity of blood in blood banks across major regions of Punjab supported by youngsters to bring a progressive change in the existing social set up by saving lives through blood donation.

Mr. Sukhminder Singh Kairon (Founder & President) has been working selflessly on this mission since January 2009 but to spread the mission and save more lives, the organisation was registered in 2015. Ngo is working with the aim to fulfil the requirements of Blood/Platelets through blood banks to needy patients. We believe that organizing camps is the fastest way for solving the problem of blood shortage. Over years of noble service to society, NGO has extended its support to some other important sectors also like Plantation Drives, First Aid awareness, Food Sewa and other emerging requirements.

Fact

According to source: www.thehindubusinessline.com, India requires 13.5 million units of blood & around 11 million blood is collected which results in shortage of 2.5 million blood units. This shortage can be easily eliminated if only an additional 2% of India's youth donate blood, just once in a year.

Vision

Our one of the vision is to create awareness among the youth about the benefits of donating blood and inspire them to serve the society. Our motive is to create awareness about importance of blood donations and motivate others to serve the society.

State Award

• Honoured with State Award Ranked No. 2 in Punjab by Health and Family Welfare Minister, Government of Punjab Sh. Balbir Singh Sidhu on event held at Chandigarh on Nov 9, 2020.
• Honoured with State Award Ranked No.1 in Punjab by Health and Family Welfare Minister, Government of Punjab Sh. Balbir Singh Sidhu on event held at Barnala on Nov 1, 2019.
• Honoured with the State Award by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sh. Surjit Kumar Jayani on the event held in district Mansa on October 1, 2016.

Award of Honour / Appreciation Certificates

• Received Appreciation Certificate for the blood donation contribution in COVID-19 pandemic on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation day 2020 from Honourable Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana SH. Varinder Kumar Sharma on 17th feb. 2021 under the guidance of Red Cross Society.
• Honoured with Covid Warriors Recognition Certificate under the guidance of Punjab Transfusion Council (PSBTC) on December 21, 2020 for maximum number of blood donation made by the society in the Ludhiana district by providing free pick up & drop Sewa to the donors from their respective places to blood banks.
• Honoured by the Government of Punjab (Ludhiana Administration) for rendering "Best social services to society", on the occasion of 70th Republic day i.e. Jan.26, 2019, district level function held at Guru Nanak Stadium.
• Appreciated with the award of honour in 2018 by S.M.O., Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, for providing highest number of blood donations to the blood bank, Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.

Others

• Rehras Sewa Society is administering the iRakt Application which is a venture of District Administration (Ludhiana) to streamline the availability of blood at times of need in the city.

Rehras Sewa Society Activities

Blood Sewa

• Ensuring continuous, sufficient blood supply to blood banks through regular blood donation camps in a year.
• Ensuring proper availability of blood/ platelets to patients in emergency cases in everyday routine. For this purpose, our helpline number 8427960050 is available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Civil Hospital Ludhiana Activities

• Creating awareness & motivating people at large regarding blood donation by successfully running Help desk in Civil hospital Ludhiana. On daily basis, we are able to aware around 200-250 people/patients walking in the hospital.
• Providing Tea & Breakfast to patients admitted in unknown ward of Civil Hospital Ludhiana.
• Celebrated Lohri 2021 by distributing warm Shawls & Lohi's to female and male patients admitted in Civil Hospital Ludhiana.

COVID-19 Pandemic Activities

• Provided free Pick up and Drop Sewa to each blood donor from their respective places to blood banks in COVID-19 times to overcome the blood shortage in blood banks.
• Distributed one litre water bottles, biscuits, soaps, hand towels to COVID-19 affected patients admitted in Civil Hospital Ludhiana for around 7 months.
• Initiated free mask distribution campaign with the coordination of Dainik Bhaskar Media.
• Started Regular Sanitization process in Civil Hospital and nearby areas to reduce the effect of covid-19.
• To reduce the effect of Dengue, regular fogging is done in city areas by the society's volunteers.

First Aid Activities

• Creating awareness sessions on First aid to students of Government schools of the Ludhiana city's districts in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, Ludhiana

Plantation Drive

• Conducting Tree plantations drives in various parts of Ludhiana city by mainly adopting lane next to keys hotel, near Pakhowal road, Ludhiana by planting around 800 trees in three months.

Other Activities

• Establishing a network of youth across the country to lead the movement like motivating students in Lovely Professional University (LPU) blood donation camps.

• A complicated child birth case may require many units of blood.

Recognizing Donors and long term relationship

We care for our Donors. We offer them an Appreciation Certificate, Donor's Batch, Medal, a gift pen and invite them all on annual day celebrations of NGO.

• To appreciate and motivate the donor and the society at large, we post their blood donation picture on our social media handles like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and in our Rehras Sewa whatsapp group. This activity motivates others to contribute their part to such noble cause. If one can, then all can donate blood.

Our motive is to create awareness about importance of blood donations and motivate others to serve the society. To efficiently work on this cause, our team together is working to save lives.
